SmartSend

Multi-touch outreach launched straight from a contact card — Fundz drafts a sequence from the company's real signals and sends it from your own inbox or your own LinkedIn.

What SmartSend is

SmartSend (formerly Smart Follow-up) turns a single contact into a ready-to-send, signal-grounded outreach sequence. From any verified contact on a Fundz company, one click reads that person's role and every real-time signal Fundz tracks about their company, infers what they are likely dealing with right now, and drafts a three-touch email sequence that leads with their challenge and how you help with it.

The first email sends now from your own Gmail or Office 365 inbox, in your voice. The follow-up and breakup are threaded onto the same conversation and send on a schedule — and the whole sequence stops the moment the contact replies. It is built for relationship-driven outreach off Fundz signals, not for cold blasting.

When to use it

Reach for SmartSend when a company shows a buying signal and you want to start a genuine conversation with the right person — not when you want to spray volume.

A signal just landed

A company in your pipeline raised a round, made a hire, launched a product, signed a contract, or expanded. SmartSend reaches the contact while the moment is fresh.

Working your Daily Leads

SmartSend is available right on the contacts attached to each lead in your Daily Leads, so you can act on the day's best accounts without leaving the list.

You want a reply, not noise

Each touch is grounded in what the person is actually facing, so it reads as a relevant note from a human rather than a templated blast.

Connect your inbox first

SmartSend sends from your own mailbox so every email lands in your Sent folder and replies come straight back to you. Before the first send you connect Gmail or Office 365 through a secure OAuth connection — Fundz never sees or stores your password, and you can revoke access at any time.

Connect gate

If your inbox is not connected, SmartSend will not send. Instead of blasting from a shared address, it prompts you to connect (or reconnect) right inside the preview modal, so a send never goes out from anywhere but your own inbox.

How it works

  1. 1
Open a Fundz company or a Daily Lead and click SmartSend on a verified contact.
  2. 2
Fundz synthesizes the company's real-time signals — funding, hiring, product launches, contracts, office expansions, executive moves, and more — and reasons from the contact's role to infer what they are dealing with this week.
  3. 3
It drafts a three-touch sequence: an opening email, a threaded follow-up, and a short breakup, each leading with the recipient's challenge and how your real offering helps.
  4. 4
Review the three preview tabs, edit any wording, confirm your signature and meeting link, then send. Touch 1 goes out immediately; the follow-up and breakup are scheduled and threaded.
Auto-stops on reply

If the contact replies at any point, the remaining touches are cancelled automatically. You never double-message someone who already responded.

Add LinkedIn to SmartSend

SmartSend sends email — and it can reach the same person on LinkedIn, or on both channels at once. On any contact that has a LinkedIn profile, pick the LinkedIn option when you start a SmartSend. A LinkedIn message goes out from your own LinkedIn account: a personal connection request, then a short follow-up and a gracious break-up if they don't reply — a real multi-touch cadence, not a single message. Fundz drafts every touch grounded in what just happened; you review, edit, and send in one click, and HeyReach runs it from your profile.

SmartSend lets you send Email + LinkedIn together (or either one alone) as one coordinated sequence: a reply on either channel stops both, so a prospect who answers your email never gets a stray LinkedIn message, and vice-versa. You reach out where it fits, and never over-contact the same person. Just want email? That works on its own — LinkedIn is simply the option you can add.

Connect your LinkedIn seat once

LinkedIn messages send through your own account via a HeyReach connection you set up once in Account → Integrations → LinkedIn (HeyReach). New to HeyReach? See Add LinkedIn to SmartSend (HeyReach) for the two-minute walkthrough. Everything goes out as you — Fundz never posts from a shared account, and never sees your LinkedIn password. The LinkedIn option needs the contact's LinkedIn profile and their first and last name.

Triggered by the signal

A funding round, a new exec, an expansion — Fundz picks the decision-maker and grounds the note in what just happened, so the connect reads as relevant, not random.

You approve every word

The connection note (up to ~290 characters) and each follow-up message are fully editable, or leave them blank and Fundz drafts them from the signal.

Built for restraint

Sensible daily and per-contact limits keep it a precise, one-at-a-time touch — a well-timed message when it fits, never a volume tool.

The three editable preview tabs

Nothing sends until you have seen it. The preview modal shows the full sequence up front across three tabs, each fully editable before you commit.

Sends now

The opening email that goes out the instant you confirm. It leads with the recipient's role-level challenge given the company's live signals, then ties in how you help with exactly that.

Follow-up

A threaded second touch that opens on a fresh angle and sends after a short delay — unless the contact has already replied.

Breakup

A short, gracious final note that closes the loop without re-pitching. It keeps the sequence persistent enough to land but never a pestering drip.

Each tab carries your live signature preview and a meeting-link field, so the exact email you approve — signature, booking link, and all — is what actually gets sent.

Grounded in signals, honest by design

SmartSend's value is that the copy is built from what is really happening in the buyer's world, not a merge token dropped into a template. It speaks to the person's role and the moment, drawing on the breadth of real-time signals Fundz brings together, including corroborating evidence such as hiring activity, office permits, and trademark filings.

When a company carries a timing signal — a UCC lien lapsing on a known date, a benefit-plan renewal window, fresh funding actively converting to hiring — SmartSend treats it as the primary reason-to-write and leads with the concrete date or window. A real date beats any generic observation, and those dates come straight from the same intelligence behind the Lender Intelligence and Benefit Plans in Play sections.

It represents your offering exactly as you have written it and never invents claims. The result reaches people when timing matters, in your voice, without the spammy blasts or tone-deaf personalization that train buyers to ignore you.

Maintain your offering once

SmartSend derives what you do from your Lead Targeting business profile, so you keep it accurate in one place — every sequence you start reflects it automatically.

Option: lead with a market gift

On any cold first touch — email or LinkedIn — you can switch on Lead with a market gift. Instead of opening with a pitch, the first message opens with a genuinely useful, white-labeled heads-up about the recipient's market — a relevant peer's raise, a category trend, fresh activity in their region — drawn from live Fundz signals, before any ask.

It is the trusted-advisor move at scale: give value first, then earn the conversation. When Fundz does not have a strong enough market signal to make the gift genuinely useful, it quietly falls back to the normal signal-grounded note rather than force a weak one.

One toggle, every cold surface

The gift-first toggle appears in the SmartSend email composer, the SmartSend LinkedIn message, and the Engage decision-maker opener. Turn it on whenever you want to open with value instead of a pitch.

Stay in control

You stay in charge of every sequence. Beyond editing each touch before it sends, SmartSend tracks state per contact: when a sequence is scheduled, the contact card shows a Scheduled status and a Stop button so you can halt the remaining touches yourself at any time. Combined with automatic reply detection, you decide who keeps hearing from you and who does not.
