Why Fundz

Four ways to find who to call this week

Ask an AI chat. Buy a contact database. Assemble your own workflow from purchased feeds and tools. Or use Fundz. Each one is good at something. Here is how they compare on the three things that turn a company into a conversation: Timing (did something just change), Relevance (does it fit what you sell) and Relationships (who you already know there).

Fundz is the data provider chosen by S&P 500 companies and venture-backed startups, with an intelligence engine on top. You get real-time updates on the business events that start buying cycles, scored to your ideal customer, with a deep-dive research report on each company, the best people to call, who you already know there, and market intelligence on the company’s own peers. So you can show up as a trusted advisor fast, in a way no other option on this page puts in one place.

The four choices, side by side

Published prices as of Nov 2, 2026, per seat per year unless noted. Estimates are marked Est. and every Fundz number is measured, with its sample size on the linked page.

Choice 1

Ask an AI chat

A general assistant with web search

Great for quick research on a company you already have in mind, and for writing.

Timing
Sees what was published. In our four-week test it found 77% of 52 press-covered rounds, and 47% of 137 raises that existed only as an SEC filing.
Relevance
Ranks to your market when you describe it, each time you ask.
Relationships
Does not know who you already know.
Cost and setupAbout $240 a year. Minutes to start, a fresh prompt every time.

Choice 2

Buy a contact database

Apollo, ZoomInfo, Crunchbase

Great for emails and phone numbers at volume, company profiles and research.

Timing
Built around profiles. Events show up as filters you check; in our October check Apollo showed 15 of 39 rounds as funded, a median 20 days after Fundz had them.
Relevance
Lists and filters you build and keep up to date.
Relationships
Millions of contacts, but not which of them you already know.
Cost and setupApollo Professional $948. Crunchbase Pro $948 at renewal. ZoomInfo is quote only, Est. median contract $33,500.

Choice 3

Assemble your own workflow

Purchased data feeds, enrichment credits and an AI step, wired together

Great if you have an ops or engineering person and want to own every piece.

Timing
As fresh as the feeds you buy and the jobs you keep running.
Relevance
Whatever scoring you write, test and maintain.
Relationships
Possible, if you import your network and match it yourself.
Cost and setupFrom about $1,416 a year in feeds and tools, plus Est. 120 to 220 hours in year one. A sales stack of database, research and AI seats lists at about $3,216.

Funding, new executives, hiring, acquisitions, contracts and new offices on one company record, ranked against your ideal customer, with a deep-dive report, the best people to call and your own connections marked. 82.7% of delivered leads matched the customer’s own targeting (25 paying accounts, Nov 2, 2026).

What’s connected

One company, every thread, joined every day

Each source we read is public. Pulling one of them is a weekend project. The hard part is tying a filing, a job post, a permit, a benefit plan and an investor to the same company, every day, and keeping out the rows that do not belong. That joining is most of what Fundz is.

How ranking works

Every morning, scored against what you sell

  1. Your rules. You set the industries, locations, company sizes and event types that matter to you. Pro holds one targeting profile; Strategic holds three.
  2. Everything that changed. Each company that moved since yesterday is gathered with all of its dated events and their sources, from every thread above.
  3. Read against your business. A Claude model reads each candidate’s events against what you sell and to whom, scores the fit, and writes the reason it fits plus a first line you could send.
  4. Checked before it reaches you. A fit check removes any lead that breaks your rules before every send. People you already know at the company are marked.
82.7%of delivered leads matched the customer’s own targeting across 25 paying accounts (Nov 2, 2026). We measure this every day.

Strategic also adds Inception, a model trained on past filings that flags companies likely to raise before they file.

Which one fits you

  • You research a few companies now and then. An AI chat does that well. Fundz also works inside the AI assistants you already use, so your leads and network can come with you.
  • You dial and email at volume. Keep your contact database. Many Fundz customers do, and use Fundz to decide which companies to work and why today.
  • You have an ops team and want to own the plumbing. Building your own is a fair choice. The API is included in Pro and Strategic if you want our events as one of your feeds.
  • You want a short list each morning of who to call, why now, and who you know there. That is what Fundz is for.
In detail

How Fundz does it

Five parts, from new money to your own network.

1. A database that is stale by the time you open it

Fresh the day it happens, scored for your market every morning

Median lag, announcement to Fundz row: 0 days012345days after the round is announcedFundz: median 0 days

0 days is the median gap between a round being announced and its row appearing in Fundz (109 rounds, three markets, four-week test). Each morning the new events are scored against your market and handed to you as a short list.

2. An AI chat answer that changes every time you ask

The raises that never made a press release, found every week

FundzAI chat with web search
Form D raises surfaced, week by weekWeek of Oct 5 to 11 (74 filings)30%95%Week of Oct 12 to 18 (63 filings)68%98%
96%Fundz47%AI chat

Share of SEC Form D raises by US software-type companies surfaced, checked against EDGAR itself (137 filings over two weeks). The AI chat swung from 30% to 68% between weeks. It is quick on a short, specific list, but breadth is where it varied. And 37 of 40 randomly chosen Form D raises had no press release or news article at all.

3. A list with nobody to call

Every lead comes with the person and a way in

Example only. The company and people are made up, built on the structure of a real Fundz lead, which fuses a dozen signal lanes on one company. In our four-week test, 40 to 55% of the funding rounds we served already carried a named senior contact (109 rounds), and contacts reveal on demand.

4. A first note that sounds like everyone else’s

Open with a market gift, not “I saw you raised”

When you reach out from a lead, Fundz drafts the first note with Lead with a market gift switched on by default. It opens with a few recent events among companies close to theirs, such as competitors, likely customers and likely partners. Something useful about their market, before any pitch. It applies to the first note only, you can switch it off in the composer, and when Fundz has no strong signal for that company it falls back to a note built on the company’s own event and tells you.

The usual opener

“Saw you raised a round. Here is what we do.”

A market gift opener

“Two companies near you in warehouse robotics filed new Form Ds this month, and one is hiring a VP Sales. Thought it was worth a look.”

Example wording only, with made-up details. And the lead card shows which of your own LinkedIn connections work at the company, so you can ask one of them for an introduction.

5. Behind each card, the part you never see

7 in 10 raw items are not leads, so you never see them

Raw items parsed versus rounds servedRaw items parsed7,936Rounds served to customers2,399

Last 30 days: 7,936 raw SEC Form D and funding news items parsed, 2,399 rounds served. Many Form Ds are filed by investment funds rather than operating companies, and Fundz holds those back by design, along with duplicates and wrong-company matches. How we check every record.

Start with the companies that fit your market

Tell us who you sell to. Every day you get the companies that fit, the signals behind each one and who to reach.

How we measured. Form D: every original Form D filed 5 to 18 October 2026 by a US operating company in the Other Technology group with money sold, matched to EDGAR; one logged-in AI chat account with web search, one prompt per week, so a rerun could differ. Lag: Fundz row creation against announcement date, 21 September to 18 October 2026. Funnel: production counts, 30 days to 19 October 2026. Other lanes: production row counts and median lags to 19 October 2026; accuracy checks are 30 rows each, judged one at a time against the source, on 20 October 2026, published here. The full method and every interval are on the proof page.

Why this matters

Being first

Buyers settle on a shortlist before they talk to anyone, so the aim is to be known early and usefully, not to pitch first.
