Acquisitions: who is buying whom
When one company buys another, both of them change. The buyer has new teams to merge, new systems to connect and new people to hire. The company that was bought gets new owners, new rules and often new leaders. Acquisitions shows you both sides as the deals are announced.
The Acquisitions page lists new deals with the buyer, the company acquired, the price when it is public, and each company's size and location.
Why an acquisition matters to you
- Selling: the buyer has to merge two companies: systems, processes and teams. That creates projects, and budget to pay for them.
- Recruiting: integrations create new roles, and people at the acquired company start looking around.
- Consulting and advisory: integration, finance, legal and people work all spike after a deal.
- M&A and investing: see who is buying, how often, and in which sectors, so you know who to call with the next deal.
- Account management: if a client just got acquired, your contract, your champion and your budget may all be about to change.
Find it
In the left menu, open Events and click Acquisitions, or go straight to Acquisitions. If you don't see it, click All tools at the bottom of the menu.
Narrow it to your market
- Click Add/Edit filters (on a phone, Filters).
- Pick Location, Industry, Time Period and Company size.
- Click Apply.
- Fundz asks if you want to save the filter. Click Save + Email Daily to get an email when new deals match, or Save Only to just keep it.
To change those emails, or send them to Slack or the Chrome extension, click Manage Email Summary for These Filters above the list. On Pro and Strategic you can also type a plain request into the search bar, like "AI startups acquired in the last 30 days" or "Who acquired the most companies this month?".
Act on a deal
- Add the buyer to your targets. The + at the end of a row adds the buyer, because the buyer usually has the budget and the new work. To add the company that was acquired, open the deal and click Add to targets there. Add to targets
- Find the right person. Under Related People, Fundz finds decision makers at the company. A 1st badge marks people you're already connected to on LinkedIn. Click Reveal email to get an address.
- Write the first email. Click SmartSend on a contact. The draft mentions the deal, you edit it, and it sends from your own inbox. SmartSend
- See what's likely next in the What's Likely Next panel, and open the company profile to see the buyer's other deals, rounds and hires.
- Keep notes in the Notes box, which saves as you type and is private to you, or click the heart to keep the deal in Saved Events.
Look ahead, too
