Set your targeting: industries, locations and company size

Your targeting tells Fundz who you sell to. It decides which companies appear in your Daily Leads, your morning briefing and My Market, and SmartSend reads it when it drafts your emails. Set it once in Account, Targeting, and change it whenever your market changes.

Where to find it

Open Account, Targeting. The Who you sell to section holds three lists: Industries, Company Size and Locations. Below them is Your Business Profile, a few sentences on what you offer and who it is for.

It saves as you go: you'll see Saving… and then Saved at the top of the section. There is no separate Save button to press.

Industries

  1. 1
Type in the Industries box (for example software or medical) and click each industry you want. Keep typing to add more.
  2. 2
There is no limit on how many industries you can pick. Select All picks every industry and Remove All clears the list.
  3. 3
You need at least one industry for Fundz to find your leads.

Locations

  1. 1
Add cities, states or countries. A region such as New England counts as all of its states.
  2. 2
Locations are "any of": with Ohio, Indiana and Michigan picked, a company in any one of them counts. Adding a location widens your market, it never narrows it.
  3. 3
You need at least one location.

Company size

Choose the employee ranges you sell to: Startup (0-50), Small (51-200), Medium (201-500), Mid-Market (501-1K), Enterprise (1K-5K) and Large Enterprise (5K+). Pick only the sizes you actually win, since every extra range brings in more companies that may not fit.

Your Business Profile

Write what you offer and the kind of company you help, in your own words. The scoring reads it to decide which companies have a real reason to talk to you, and SmartSend uses it to write emails that sound like you. If the profile is empty, Fundz may suggest one from your company's website, marked Pre-filled from your domain. Edit it freely.

Advanced fine-tuning lets you choose which events make a company a lead (for example funding, leadership changes or product launches) and how your leads are delivered.

Targeting or a saved search?

They do different jobs. Targeting (this page) is your whole market, and it drives your Daily Leads and briefing. A saved search is a set of filters on one feed, such as Fundings or Executives, and it drives that feed's alert email. See Saved searches and alert emails.

If your choices don't stick

  1. 1
Wait for Saved to appear before you leave the page.
  2. 2
Reload the page and check the lists. If something you picked is missing, add it again and wait for Saved.
  3. 3
If it keeps happening, tell us which page you were on (Account, Targeting or a feed's filters) and what you picked: use Ask the Fundz team in Ask Fundz, or email support@fundz.net.
Let Ask Fundz do it

On Pro and Strategic, you can type something like "add healthcare and biotech to my targeting" into Ask Fundz and it updates the lists for you.
