David Bissett, a Calgary philanthropist, has donated $30 million to the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) to develop the Bissett Autonomous Aviation Park. The facility will focus on training, testing, and certifying remotely piloted aircraft systems (RPAS) and autonomous aerial vehicle systems. SAIT has already launched Western Canada's first professional RPAS certificate program in 2023 and a diploma program this fall. The donation supports Alberta's growing drone industry and positions young Albertans to lead in this emerging sector.
