Were are a Joint Venture initiative with Unilever PLC formed in late 2019 with exclusive rights to the commercialise a new and novel technology based on furanone chemistry that inhibits Biofilms. Inspired by the biology of red seaweed, this single molecule platform offers a sustainable low-toxicity alternative to existing biocides. It has activity against bacteria by blocking quorum sensing and communication through multiple identified molecular targets in the bacteria, but is also effective against moulds and algae making this a unique proposition as a solution to harmful biocides in applications that may range from wound healing to marine fouling.
