Bengaluru-based Nova Spectral AI has secured Rs 21.15 crore in seed funding led by Shastra VC, with participation from Equirus InnovateX Fund and angel investors. The company is developing India's first quantum dot short-wave infrared (SWIR) image sensor chip for machine perception applications. The funding will support development of a made-in-India sensor chip designed for drones, surveillance systems, and consumer devices, reducing India's dependence on imported sensors. Co-founder and CEO Anish Priyadarshi stated the company has in-principle approval to incubate at IISc Bengaluru and plans to deliver a field-ready prototype within 18 months.
