Description
Emvolon, an MIT spinout, announced its Series A funding round of $22 million with participation from MassVentures, VX Ventures, Wagner Carbon, and others. The capital will be used to deliver its first commercial-scale modular chemical system converting waste methane into biomethanol and scale operations. Following a successful pilot with Montauk Renewables, Emvolon will deploy modular plants at multiple waste gas sites across North America and international markets. Under a multi-year agreement with Freepoint Commodities, up to $450M of Emvolon biomethanol and liquid fuels will be sold into global distribution networks targeting maritime shipping, aviation, and heavy transport.
