The clinical imaging of mechanical properties of tissue using elastography is a young, fast growing field with recently issued CPT codes and reimbursement. However, currently available clinical systems have major limitations. Elastance Imaging LLC is developing a mix of patented and patent pending, next generation ultrasound solutions that, unlike competitors, produce deep-tissue and High Definition Elastography and ViscoElastography scans. In March 2019, Elastance Imaging tested a new apparatus for breast imaging which clearly reached frequencies as high as 4,000 Hz in live breast tissue, making the potential for these systems to rival the resolution and specificity of mammography a real possibility… and without the discomfort and danger of ionizing radiation.
