Concretene has raised £4.5m in the first close of a Series A round to scale up production of graphene for use in concrete. The round includes £2m from PXN Equity Finance, part of the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund II, with additional investment from existing backers LocalGlobe and Molten Ventures. The funding will support industrial-scale admixture manufacturing, scaled concrete trials, and the Manchester graphene programme. Concretene's graphene admixture has demonstrated the potential to remove 10-20% of cement from concrete mixes without affecting strength or durability.
