John Whitehurst has been appointed as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR). He will assume his new role on Monday 20 May, taking responsibility for ensuring safe, reliable, and sustainable operations across GTR's four major rail brands. Andy Coulthurst, who has led GTR's operations on an interim basis since November 2023, will retire this summer after more than 20 years in the rail industry.
