The Serious Fraud Office is investigating Unite the Union’s £112m hotel and conference centre in Birmingham, following the revelation that the costs had far exceeded the original valuation. The contract was awarded to Liverpool construction company Flanagan Group, which had not previously constructed something of this scale.
