The New York City Department of Transportation has significantly increased the share of its contracts awarded to Minority- and Women-Owned Business Enterprises (MWBEs). It awarded 32 percent of its total contract spending in fiscal year 2024 to MWBEs, a substantial increase from previous years. In the last three years, the department has spent $432 million on 407 MWBE contracts.
