Nektar sells Huntsville manufacturing plant to Ampersand in $90M partnership deal

Description
Nektar Therapeutics has announced the sale of its Huntsville, Alabama, manufacturing plant and reagent supply business to private equity firm Ampersand Capital Partners for a total value of $90 million. As part of the agreement, Nektar will receive $70 million in cash and a $20 million equity position in a new Ampersand portfolio company. The partnering companies also plan to forge manufacturing supply agreements to meet Nektar's PEG reagent needs for its lead candidate rezpegaldesleukin and certain other pipeline assets, aiming to focus on the development of new therapeutics for immunology.
