LawZero, Yoshua Bengio's non-profit organization, has secured $300 million CAD in funding from the Canadian and German governments to advance safe-by-design AI systems. The funding will support expansion of the organization's international scientific research team, establish a new office in Berlin, and build sovereign compute infrastructure in Canada through partnerships with Hypertec and 5C. LawZero is developing 'Scientist AI,' an AI system designed to monitor and create guardrails for agentic AI systems. The announcement was made at the ALL IN conference in Montréal.
