Description

Between 2016 and 2018, the Gauteng Department of Social Development irregularly paid at least R500 million to for-profit companies via non-profit organisations without following tender processes. The former senior official, July Maphosa, is allegedly involved in channelling hundreds of millions of rand to these entities, many of which were closely linked and shared directors. Despite a forensic audit being conducted in 2019, the implicated officials, including Maphosa, have not been held accountable.
