Description
Brussels is facing a challenge as it seeks to compete with Chinese state-owned companies in the funding and construction of global infrastructure projects. Despite its efforts to challenge Beijing, many of the projects funded by Brussels are being built by Chinese firms, which have been awarded more than €1 billion worth of contracts for EIB-funded projects in countries outside the EU since the beginning of 2019.
