Description
Nokia has signed a definitive agreement to acquire NXP Semiconductors' manufacturing facility in Chandler, Arizona, expected to close in Q1 2029. The plant will be repurposed to produce indium phosphide chips critical for optical data transmission. This move is part of Nokia's strategy to strengthen its supply chain for optical chip technology amidst rising AI demand. The facility was previously set for closure in 2027 and will initially operate under a lease arrangement.
